Turjuman Programme

Turjuman is the Arabic word for Translator. The Turjuman Programme aims to elevate the quality of translation in the Arab World, by providing translators with the opportunity to attend training sessions or get higher qualification, in order to produce quantitative and qualitative works matching the highest expectations.

 

Turjuman Programme

Objectives of the Programme:

The Programme seeks to contribute effectively to promoting translation in the Arab World by:

  • Increasing the number of highly qualified experienced translators
  • Improving the quality of works translated from and into Arabic
  • Training translators on the use of state-of-the-art CAT tools

The Foundation adopts various strategies in implementing this mission. Those strategies are intended to function synergistically to activate the translation movement and to empower translators to produce precise and qualitative works.

Under Turjuman, the Foundation launches courses to enhance translators and improve translations in the fields of management and business. The Foundation offers qualified applicants the opportunity to attend a six-week training session, and introduces them to state-of-the-art CAT tools that would facilitate their work.

The Foundation covers all tuition fees of the session, and those who pass the session get the Certified Translator certificate.

Terms and conditions:

  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree
  • The applicant should have a minimum of two years’ experience in translation
  • The applicant should be a citizen of one of the 22 countries of the League of Arab States. Those states are: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen.

Once the applications are approved, the applicants will enroll in the training session after committing themselves to attending no less than 70% of the lectures, successfully pass the examinations and complete the assignments.

Masters programme

The Foundation offers Arab translators the opportunity to get master's degree in translation from some of the best universities in the Arab World.

To qualify for the Master's programme, candidates should:

  • hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree
  • have a minimum of two years’ experience in translation
  • be a citizen of one of the 22 countries of the League of Arab States. Those states are: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros Islands, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen
