Government of Singapore Honours Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation    | 7 September 2009 
 
 
 
 

Dubai: 7 September, 2009 – Adel Al Shared, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, received a special memento from Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew in recognition of the Foundation’s continuing support to human development in the Arab World. 

Adel Al Shared receives a special mementoAl Shared received the memento during a gala dinner held in Singapore as part of the fifth anniversary celebrations of the founding of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the premier school for public policy in the Asia-Pacific region. Prof. Kishore Mahbubani, Dean and Professor in the Practice of Public Policy, and former Singapore’s Ambassador to the United Nations was also present. 

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew also thanked the Foundation for the consistent support the renowned Singapore-based institution has received and commended countries that peg their future to visionary leadership – the very same vision that helped found the island nation’s school of public policy. 

Established in 2004, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy has quickly grown in stature and is now recognized as one of the Asia-Pacific region’s leading schools. Currently, the school has nearly 300 students from over 40 countries and 30 professors, having developed partnerships with leading schools globally. It is also the only Asian school to be admitted into the Global Public Policy Network set up by Columbia University (New York), The London School of Economics, and Sciences Po (Paris). 

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation offers scholarships to postgraduate students in Public Administration (MPA) at the Dubai School of Government (DSG), which has a partnership agreement with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. 

The Foundation has entered into alliances with various regional and international universities to assist students achieve their educational aspirations. It also implements knowledge and development programmes to meet the social and economic requirements of the Arab World. 

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to offer development opportunities through investing in resources that can build knowledge skills in the region. With a US$10 billion personal endowment by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Foundation seeks to finance several projects and programmes in the Arab World that focus on its core sectors.
